Trust The Method.

I cannot say this enough. Tracy is a trainer that you can trust. Her Method delivers. Some days it will drive you crazy. It will. But you need to remind yourself that there is a Method to her madness. Every pun intended.

With that said, you can now relax knowing that one of your New Year's resolutions is being looked after. You no longer need to think about it. You do the practice daily and your dreams of a better body are all but yours. I promise. But three things have got to happen. You have to make the effort to generate the fairy dust. (for those of you who don't know, it's Tracy's way of saying sweat), you have to eat healthy, period! And you have got to learn to love yourself.

I mean it.

Tracy talks about perfection. Forget that. There is no perfect. She also talks about changing your genetics. I have to add a little asterisk to that statement. She is going to reshape you. There's no doubt about it. But she can't make you taller, you hear what I'm saying!? I am no longer bulging over the top of my jeans in a big old muffin top, but I certainly will never have a pencil-thin waist either. I am abcentric forever and for always.

But with a daily dose of mat work, it's under control.

She makes a promise to us -- that after two years, we start to own our transformation. You might be thinking whaaaaaat?! Two years! I thought it was just three months. This ain't a quick fix people, it's a lifestyle. Tell you what tho, this was my first Christmas ever that I didn't gain an ounce. My arms are still toned, my butt is still lifted (and that's saying a lot for a 41 year old ass I don't mind telling you) and my tummy is flat(ish). If you do this over and over and over, day after day, week after week, it's going to stick and the results do to.

So lets get to the most important and ONLY New Year's Resolution that you should be concerning yourself with this year shall we?

One of my BFF's, a woman who is perfection personified, the stunning and generous and warm hearted Stephanie, my real life hero, sent me a link today to a wonderful post. She sent it because I am practicing the virtue of Celebration this month and because she knows that I am working on my very own feeling of self-worth and I just had to pay it forward.

The post asked... What if the only resolution you make is to love yourself?

Think about it.
If you loved yourself more you’d probably…
Be kinder to yourself and others.
Spend your time and energy in ways that make you feel good.
Say no to things you really don’t want to do.
Say yes to the little voice inside that begs you to listen.
Give from your heart instead of from guilt and obligation.
Attract great experiences and opportunities into your life.
Take good care of your finances and your health.
Surround yourself with people who respect and adore you.
Now, isn’t it so much easier to focus the New Year on the one thing that will make the biggest difference in your life?

I love that. Here's a link to the post in case you want a life make-over (it looks fabulous btw)

I asked you to trust the Method. I say that Tracy is a trainer that you can trust. If you don't want to take it from her, take it from me. I am in no way affiliated with the Tracy Anderson Method, other than being a devoted practitioner of said Method. I have been doing this for over two years now. Yes, I gained back half the weight I lost once I'd moved on to Continuity, but guess what? I lost it again and have kept it off since September. I am stronger and leaner than I have ever been and I am really learning to love myself and appreciate my strengths and my uniqueness in the world.

I'm saying this so that you can relax a little bit. Do the work you need to do, make the effort in the areas that need your attention (diet or being more active or carving time into your schedule for both), and then relax and start appreciating that you are fantastic. You're wonderful. You're totally awesome and you are more beautiful than you know.

I'm saying this year....

And finally, for my lovely girl Tricia...

Love ya.
Shan

  1. So motivating! I totally agree with your Two years comment :) It really does take about that long for you to accept and embrace the fact that ... this is daily life for me. But with that come the little rewards like being able feel comfortable in your skin in a way you'd never felt before. I love your blog, been reading it for the past 1.5 years... PLEASEEEEEE NEVER STOP!

    1. Hey Rachael, you nailed it girl, feeling comfortable in your own skin in a way you never felt before is so true. It feels different because you worked for it and now you own it. It's great.
Thanks for your generous words and encouragement. It means the world. xo

  2. I agree. Tracy knows what she is doing. And the results (I'm talkin without her crazy diet...yes, I think it's crazy!) come quickly, so you stay motivated! I'm no long timer yet..but I don't see why I would ever stop, and I HATE exercising, or I used to.

Btw- I didn't expect the scenery and quality of the continuity to take a dive...looks like it comes back up in year two though from that preview video.

    1. Hi Tammy - you made me laugh an outright belly laugh when you said you didn't expect the scenery and quality to take a dive. That's so funny. It did, but it comes back up to speed, don't you worry. And if you get sick of it, pop in Meta and do a workout off of that on the odd day, it will lift your spirits.
Her diet is crazy, but temporary. Thank goodness.
I cannot wait to hear that you are a long-timer one day girl. Big hugs.

  3. Shan,
You touched my heart today. I love your message about us all "loving ourselves". Love does begin within ourselves, our self love radiates out through our actions, feelings, its the energy that transforms into how we treat others and the energy we radiate out from ourselves. If you feel hateful and ugly on the inside, it will radiate out. If you love on the inside you will shine. The true secret is that..All we need to do is look within, and everything we need is already there just waiting to blossom outward. so this is a great year to make that happen!
I will be posting this on my vision board, along with the fantastic quote about two-steps ahead! That made me laugh outloud! I printed out the blog on the day you, Amy and JAH responded, and I tell you, you ALL really helped me see things in a new way. I felt like a big boulder was lifted off my chest. Thank you all. You never really know how much you can touch and help others by your kind words and wisdom!

To go along with your comments about TA..... to all of you who are wondering? should I do TA? should I try it? does it work? YES! YES! YES! My two-year mark is this March and I have never been in better shape, ever! EVER! I think TA said by year 3 all your muscles will be pulled in. This year 2 has pulled more of the smaller muscles in and with the added ankle weights things have really sped up the toning of the 45 year old saggy derriere. My arms are toned, my belly is flat(ish)....However, There is only one warning... the MS workouts do become addictive!
    and remember ... "love yourself"

    1. Tricia, you have been on my mind since that day you left the comment. I'm so glad that we could offer some comfort and you sound like you're feeling much better. I love that.
MS is addictive, so addictive. It feels so great to move our bodies everyday. Does take some getting used to and there is some pain at first, but now it's more like medicine for the spirit.

  4. I changed the words to be a mantra..... print out and post it anywhere you like! Enjoy.

  5. Shan, Hi. I love the two themes of your post: 1) Trust the Method; and 2) Love Yourself! I'm really happy right now and you can Trust the Method! I have one more day to finish a 10 day segment of mat and cardio, doing six days on so far. Feelin' so fine right now, God can Tracy pull things together! As you and others attest to above and if you do the cardio it's over the top results for sure. My treat this week was to download some new workout music from Run Hundred, love that site, thanks Shan for turning me on to it. I ordered the Plus series ($10) and started on his recomendation of Mix 124. Has a few on it I already have but really mixed well, so not stopping! I see everything tightening up, my little slump due to unforseen circumstances, is, thank goodnes over and I'm full into the practice. Yes, it is addictive always has been. In fact, my husband wanted me to go into Reno with him today. I made up a good excuse, I needed to get our finances/books in order/pay bills etc, all that is true, however, that wouldn't have stopped me from going...what stopped me was that I knew I wouldn't get to do Tracy. Reno is a long way, about 3 hours one way from the ranch, so we get home late if we don't stay over night in the "Biggest Little City". I'm just not ready to compromise one day yet of TAM as the results are so good and my mood elevated from it. So, I'm sitting here after a fab workout, really proud of myself, the cardio is already getting easier again, the mat is never easy, but after Meta you gain strength so you can handle it, especially after Level 9!!! I'm lovin' myself...
Tricia thanks for the reword...right on! Glad you are feelin' so upbeat too. I'm sure it's somehow connecting us!
Also, Shan and Tricia, (and everyone else) your results you describe sound 'perfect' for each of you, good job girls!
Lovin' it and me and you all, JAH
